BACKGROUND:

Jon L.  Bourne received his undergraduate B.A. degree in 1973 and his   Masters  of Architecture  Degree  in  1975  from   Clemson University.  During  graduate school, Jon studied in Genoa Italy under  the  Clemson  Architectural  Foundation  Program.  With  a concentration in  structural engineering,  he assisted  in teaching  architectural structures during these  graduate years. Prior  to  graduation,  Jon had accumulated  valuable  on-the-job training  during the summer months by working for Gill &  Wilkins Architects  of  Myrtle Beach SC,  B.J.  Construction and Jenkins Construction of Conway SC, Humphries Construction of Myrtle Beach SC,  Oconee  Nuclear  Power  Station, and  Dale  Engineering  of Greenville SC

           

Jon L. Bourne began his architectural apprenticeship training in Myrtle Beach,  S.C.  under R.  Nelson Crowe,  Architect, where he worked  on residences,  banks,  and city facilities.  In 1977  he joined the firm of Marrs and Lawson, Architects, where he gained experience on motels,  school additions, municipal facilities, an ETV  facility,  and condominiums.  After becoming  a  Registered Architect  in  1978,   he joined the firm of Riddle and  Wilkes, Architects,  in  Myrtle  Beach as staff architect  and  continued gaining  experience on motels,  high rise  hotels,  auditoriums, schools,  churches and retail establishments. In 1980, Jon joined ranks with Charles Jordan of Conway (Chancel Construction  Group) then  Charles Construction where her provided residential design and  construction management.  In 1981,  as Staff Architect  with  Associated  Design Group of Myrtle Beach and Summerville  SC,  he worked primarily on multi-family projects,  and in 1982, as Staff Architect under James F.  Bruner, Architect, of Charleston SC, he gained  valuable  experience  in the design and  construction of private resort residences on Seabrook Island SC.

 

CONTINUING EDUCATION:

Mr. Bourne maintains well over 16 hours of CEUís each year. He concentrates these CEUís in the fields of Energy, Building Codes, Construction Methods and Green Building Concepts.
